About the teacher:
Welcome to first grade! I am looking forward to another wonderful year. This is my 22nd year of teaching and my 4th year to call Vivian Fowler home.
I live in Mt. Pleasant with my husband and our dog, Daisy. We have one son, Joel, who is 25.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling and gardening.

First Grade Homework Information:
Reading: Encourage your child to read and develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. As with anything else we learn to do, the more practice we receive, the more skilled we become and the more we enjoy it. Your child will be expected to read for 20 minutes each evening. In addition, your child will have a reading worksheet to complete each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Math: Your child will a have math worksheet to complete each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Please help your child will math concepts that we are learning in class.
Spelling: We have a spelling test each Friday. Your child will bring home a spelling list each Monday. The list will have 10 words that contain the spelling pattern we are working on that week and 2 additional sight words.
FYI:
Students are expected to arrive at school and be ready for class at 8:00. Students arriving after 8:05 will be counted tardy.
When your child is absent from school due to an illness, please remember to send a note.
If your child will be going home in a different manner, please remember to send me a note.
Tuesday folders contain graded papers and any notes, information from the school office or from me. Please check this folder carefully. Check your child's papers. This will allow you to congratulate a job well done and help with anything that your child is struggling with.
Important Dates to Remember:
November 27th - Report cards
November 30th - Award ceremony for 1st grade at 1:00 in the gym.
November 21-23 - Thanksgiving Holidays
December 24-January 2 - Christmas Holidays
